Still Beautiful
Ice clinging to trees
Dressing them in crystal sleeves
Winter’s still got it.
One Degree of Separation
Through a thin window
The pre-dawn sky whispers, soft
“Come, dear, be in it.”
Pulling up the dawn
Is a slice of moon so thin
It’s almost not…there.
Unbroken blue skies
The other side of winter
Visible from here.
Ice clinging to trees
Dressing them in crystal sleeves
Winter’s still got it.
On a sunny day
Does the lingering snow know
The end is coming?
Waiting for the spring
There’s so much to do meanwhile
Like…thanking winter.
It’s rather simple:
Sun meets ice—transformation
Like love does with us.
So lucky am I
Given another sunrise
On this winter morn.
The feel of winter—
Cold and pillowy at once
I sink into both.
Seven, ten inches
Not even the sky knows—yet
Anticipating…
I sweep ev’ry day
Floors, chambers of my heart
I like a fresh start.
Curse not the winter
Its cold sun, its icy skies
That sun is trying…
Through a thin window
The pre-dawn sky whispers, soft
“Come, dear, be in it.”
It occurred to me
Suddenly, deep in the night
It’s about being.
Fear paralyzes
Moving is the remedy
Get up, keep walking.
The meadow is still
Tracks in the snow tell stories
Of night’s visitors.
Everywhere I look
Grace abundant, gifts abound
It starts from within.
The creek is rising
Like the hope in my brave heart
For the year ahead.
